Creative Roots: Collective Urbanism

An international organisation for the tactical co-creation of urban life Creative Roots is an international organisation of urban designers/landscape architects and other enthusiasts of urban life, based in Denmark. Its mission is to provide collaborative platforms between local citizens, students, businesses, decision-makers and experts to meet and create urban life and places. By involving citizens through meaningful action and revealing local assets, Creative Roots’ projects strengthen social connections whilst tactically impacting the mental perception and physical aspects of the intervention sites. Initially a student association, Creative Roots has grown into an international organisation composed of both a professional team and an active community of volunteers. The professional team performs community-building operations, offers consultancy services on co-creative and tactical urban transformation and develops innovative collaborative processes. The active community, primarily urban students of urban subjects, supports the realisation of new initiatives through prototyping in the urban space and knowledge sharing. This unique and dynamic constellation ensures both practical experience and the latest innovations to nourish our projects, whilst enabling students to participate in real projects, take responsibilities and express their creativity.
