Critical Exposure

OUR MISSION Critical Exposure works with Black and Brown youth to transform DC communities and schools into safe, resource-connected places that are liberated from social, political, and economic barriers. We do this through youth organizing, storytelling, and leveraging the power of photography. OUR VISION Critical Exposure envisions communities that are liberated, safe, and supportive for young people of Washington, DC, to dream, learn, grow, and thrive. WE BELIEVE • Young people have the right and ability to define themselves and frame their experiences to change mainstream narratives about Black and Brown youth. • Young people are experts in their reality; they have the capacity to both teach and learn in transformative ways. • The lives, experiences, and participation of young people are central to improving DC schools and communities. • Intergenerational solidarity and collaboration create connection, belonging, and strengthen community ties.
