Institute for Problems of Cryobiology and Cryomedicine of the NASU

The Institute for Problems of Cryobiology and Cryomedicine of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine was founded in 1972 on the basis of two laboratories of the Institute for Low Temperature Physics and Engineering of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR and the Problem research laboratory of bone marrow and blood low-temperature preservation. The Institute for Problems of Cryobiology and Cryomedicine of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine is currently the only institution in the world that comprehensively develops modern medical and biological cryotechniques. Physicists and biophysicists, chemists and biochemists, mathematicians and engineers work together with biologists and physicians. Starting its activity with 47 employees, the institute staff today employs 222 persons, including 22 doctors of sciences and 105 candidates of sciences. The staff of the institute was awarded five State Prizes in Science and Technology, 12 employees of the Institute were conferred with the nominal prizes of the NAS of Ukraine, one employee has the title of "Honored Doctor of Ukraine", two employees received "Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine" title.
