Computer Science Africa

We envision a prosperous Africa where each student can read and write code, the language of technology. And harness the power of technology to formulate, design, and create a better and more inclusive future. We work with high schoolers to cultivate the next generation of African tech leaders. This is being done by giving students, particularly girls and students with special needs, a chance to explore, advance, and succeed in Computer Science, starting from Ghana. We do this by providing a free and equitable CS (Computer Science) education program aligned to the US K-12 Computer Science Framework and provide the inspiration and skillsets they need for rewarding careers in the 21st Century. OUR DRIVING FORCE The persistent gap in equitable CS education affects millions of students, especially in Africa. In a world where we become increasingly dependent on technology by the day (the year 2020 serving as a stark example), this is not just unfortunate; it's unjust. From the moment you wake up to the moment you go back to sleep, technology is everywhere. These rapid advances have unprecedentedly and dramatically altered how we work, communicate, shop, think, and ultimately learn. Providing more access to computer science education in primary schools is critical to preparing kids for life in the 21st Century. Whether that means increased access to high-paying careers and remote opportunities or by providing the relevant tools and mindsets to design the world they want to see. And those opportunities must be available to all students, regardless of zip code. To cope with these rapid changes and make sense of the world around us, we need to understand how technology works and ultimately expose kids to these concepts as early as possible.
