CSR Table Olives - KALYTERA program

CSR Table olives is a project materialized by ELGO - DIMITRA, Institute of Olive Tree, Subtropical Crops and Viticulture, Department of Olive and Horticultural Crops In Kalamata with direct financial support by the French Group of Companies LABEYRIE FINE FOODS - PERE OLIVE and its KALYTERA PROGRAM, aiming to put forward long-term solutions for growing olives in order to reduce the impact of this sector on the environment. The main objective of the project improving the sustainability of Table Olives sector in Greece by assisting Greek table olive producers to implement sustainable practices by means of theoretical & practical training courses to deploy & test the most sustainable farming techniques. The project involves committed farmers in the main table olives production areas of Greece (Stylis, Pelion, Larissa and Chalkidiki) wishing to improve their farming practices and a Greek supplier, PVG Food Hellas S.A. In concrete terms, the Kalytera programme aims to act on five interdependent pillars, i.e.: 1. Soil health 2. Biodiversity 3. Resource management 4. Input management 5. The environmental impact The project will evolve in line with the experiments carried out and the different needs raised annually by the farmers, so that they can move towards increasingly virtuous cultivation practices.
