CSS Asian Elephant

The Center for Species Survival Asian Elephant (CSS Asian Elephant) is a dedicated hub for conservation, research, and policy action to protect Asian elephants. Established through a collaboration between IUCN SSC, Wildlife Trust of India (WTI), Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, and the Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department of Odisha, it is the only CSS focused on a single species. Located in Godibari, Odisha, within Chandaka Wildlife Division, the centre supports scientific research, conservation strategy development, and stakeholder collaboration. Key focus areas include human-elephant conflict mitigation, capacity building, rapid response grants, and public engagement to ensure a sustainable future for Asian elephants.
