The Centre for Translational Stem Cell Biology (CTSCB) aims to develop world-leading technologies in Hong Kong and apply them to regenerative medicine, autoimmunity, and genomic medicine during this golden age of research. We bring together top scientists and clinicians specialising in stem cells and genomics from Hong Kong, the UK, and around the globe. We strive to translate their discoveries into both commercial success and healthcare innovations.
At CTSCB, we utilise the state-of-the-art technology known as Expanded Potential Stem Cells (EPSC). This technology was initially developed in Professor Pengtao Liu's laboratory at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute in collaboration with the University of Cambridge and, more recently, at The University of Hong Kong. Under the leadership of this group of elite scientists and clinicians, we aim to innovate clinical, translational, and fundamental research through three interconnected research programs: New Stem Cell Technology, EPSCs for Human Disease and Regenerative Medicine, and EPSCs for Genomic Medicine of Immune Disease.
