About CuFeLab
Copper and iron are essential for numerous biological processes, yet toxic when present in excess. In the CuFeLab, we investigate how living organisms respond to changes in the bioavailability of both micronutrients, employing yeasts (Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Candida glabrata), plants (Arabidopsis thaliana) and mammalian cells. Our expertise is applied to the development of safe and more sustainable biotechnological tools for the prevention and treatment of nutritional iron deficiency, fungal infections, cancer, soil and water contamination, and climate change. We're part of the Systems Biology in Yeast of Biotechnological Interest Group (SBYBI) at IATA-CSIC, and the Metal Homeostasis in Yeast and Plants Group (CuFeFIT) at University of Valencia (UV)
