About CU Boulder Lighting Education for Professionals

We provide CU's renowned lighting education to industry professionals through the Rocky Mountain Lighting Academy (RMLA) summer short courses and the professional graduate Architectural Lighting Certificate, extending the great traditions and reputation of the CU lighting program beyond our full-time residential students. Through our summer short courses, professionals build their skills in the fast-changing industry of lighting with a four-day intensive experience on campus at CU Boulder. The professional graduate Architectural Lighting Certificate is offered to non-degree students from the professional community to help them build their confidence and competence, contribute more fully to their companies, and further advance their careers. Depth of understanding and proficiency grows throughout a two-semester online course sequence that begins in September and ends in April, and culminates in a summer capstone course that includes hands-on practical experience with lighting measurements, equipment, and software tools during an on-campus week-long experience. The Architectural Lighting Certificate is awarded by the University of Colorado to students who complete this series of three 3-credit graduate courses. Whether your lighting educational needs call for a four-day intensive short course or a year-long three-course deep dive, the RMLA at CU Boulder is ready to help take your career to the next level!
