About Cambridge University Synthetic Biology Society
The Cambridge University Synthetic Biology Society (SynBioSoc) brings together the Cambridge student community to promote the discipline of synthetic biology; applying engineering to principles to biological systems, to tackle key problems in biosciences research and industrial application. Our Society is unique in Cambridge for offering members a chance to gain hands-on experience in synthetic biology through student-designed and student-led projects, spanning the diverse fields that comprise synthetic biology (e.g. molecular biology, engineering, computing and hardware). In this vein, a key objective of the Society is to offer the opportunity for Cambridge students to participate in the iGEM (International Genetically Engineered Machine) Competition once more, as a student-led initiative. In addition to our research projects, we organise technical workshops to familiarise students with the laboratory & computational aspects of synthetic biology and invite high-profile guest speakers to introduce members to the cutting-edge developments of the field.
