Cages by Design (now CustomCages.com) was started by our founder at age 19 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, in the basement of a modest college apartment building. All of the original Cages by Design products were built by hand one at a time and shipped to customers across the country. The company was officially incorporated in 1998, and Cages by Design earned the trust of customers and started to grow, improve products, and develop new products that solved problems for consumers in the industry. Through years of experimenting, listening to customer needs, and countless hours of engineering, CagesByDesign.com became CustomCages.com and soon after, the company expanded into aquarium systems and launched CustomAquariums.com, both of which eventually becoming the premier brands of the industry. Listening to years of customer feedback, all our core brands (Hybrid Enclosures®, Majestic Enclosures®, Suncatcher Enclosures®, and Lifetime Aquariums®) were not only entirely designed and engineered by us in house with top-of-the-line manufacturing machinery to ensure the highest possible quality, but also innovations like the Friendly Feeder®, H2Overflow®, Stealthbox®, Seamless Sump®, Siphon Stopper®, and many others were born out of our commitment to “Solve Problems”. A relentless commitment to quality, standing behind our products, and constant innovation have allowed our company to grow. Our principles remain the same. Every enclosure is custom-built to your needs by our proud and expert craftsmen.
