The history of the Cardiovascular Diseases Research Institute (CVDRI) which is affiliated to Tehran University of Medical Sciences dates back to 2001.
Since the establishment of Tehran Heart Center in February 2001, Research Center of Tehran Heart Center has also started its activities. This research center has access to the facilities and unlimited number of patients from all over the country to Tehran Heart Center Hospital (one of the best equipped diagnostic and cardiovascular centers in the region). As a result, a comprehensive program was developed to implement the policies of this center.
From the very beginning, the establishment of the CVDRI in Tehran Heart Center was one of the planned programs. In 2016, two additional research centers including primary prevention and research on new technologies in cardiovascular domain also started their activities. Finally in 2018, the Tehran Heart Research Center was upgraded to the Cardiovascular Diseases Research Institute.
