His design philosophy is that for every book, whether it’s a series, picture book, or one-off novel, it is the job of design to help create a world in which the reader becomes invested. The book’s package is what first reaches out to the reader, drawing them in to the editorial experience. He set a high-standard design aesthetic for every title his staff or he works on; Chad’s overall goal is to make every book appear entertaining and to make reading a delightful and enjoyable experience for avid and reluctant readers alike.
Chad W. Beckerman thats me! I am an award-winning designer and creative director I oversaw the design of picture books, novels, graphic novels and art and entertainment books under the Abrams Appleseed, Abrams Books for Young Readers, Amulet Books, and Abrams ComicArts imprints. During this time I helped create over 40 NYT bestsellers.
