Citywide Inclusive Sanitation Alliance Nepal (CWISAN)

CWISAN is a collaborative body consisting of academia, civil society, I/NGOs, media, private sector and UN Agencies, which aims to drive collective action to accelerate the adoption of Citywide Inclusive Sanitation (CWIS) at the national, provincial and local policy, programming and practices in Nepal. The Alliance has defined its primary scope of work as that of informing public policy, for which CWISAN collaborates to achieve the following outcomes: 1) Policy & Monitoring; 2) Advocacy; 3) Capacity Building & Practice. The Alliance is led by UN-Habitat Nepal as the Secretariat, with membership of 500B Solutions, Eco Concern, Environment and Public Health Organization (ENPHO), FANSA Nepal Chapter, FANSA Secretariat, Innovative Solutions, Intellectuals Center, Kathmandu University, Municipal Association of Nepal (MuAN), Smart WASH Solutions, SNV, Society of Public Health Engineers Nepal (SOPHEN), Triangle Solutions, WaterAid Nepal, United Cities and Local Governments Asia Pacific (UCLG ASPAC), UNICEF, USAID Karnali Water Activity, WASH Khabar, Welthungerhilfe, sector experts and media representatives. As the Secretariat of CWISAN, UN-Habitat Nepal is the co-lead of the thematic group on safely managed sanitation services formed by the Ministry of Water Supply.
