About The Center For Worker Justice of Eastern Iowa

The Center for Worker Justice of Eastern Iowa was founded in 2012 by a coalition of religious, community, labor, and immigrant organizations, and is affiliated nationally with the Interfaith Worker Justice network. Our Mission: The Center for Worker Justice unites low-wage workers in Eastern Iowa across race and immigration status to achieve social and economic justice through education, direct service, and community alliances. We seek to improve Eastern Iowa communities by coordinating projects to address injustices in areas such as: workplace conditions, civil rights, access to education, and the need for affordable housing. CWJ members are currently organizing around the following priority issues: - Just workplaces: defending workers’ rights to proper payment and safe work - Affordable housing: protecting and improving housing options for low-income residents - Civil rights: confronting discrimination and ensuring equal access to community services for all residents - Immigration: providing assistance to those affected by immigration policies
