African Cyber Security is a privately funded firm established to empower the next cyber intelligent generation that our continent requires to counter emerging cyber threats and risks. Every business, regardless of maturity or industry, faces a wide variety of risks. These risks come in many forms, including market risks, financial risks, legal risks, and more. One of the most challenging areas for businesses today is the risk associated with information and information systems – cyber risk. Cyber risk is everywhere. As technology becomes increasingly ubiquitous and convenient, users grow both more reliant and less aware of what is behind the devices and interfaces they are using. The cyber threats to Botswana and Africa affect all aspects of society,business, and government, but there is neither cyber experts nor an established cyber career field to build upon. Virtually every business today is facing cyber risks, ranging from the loss of information on a single laptop to disruption of its entire business due to a data centre outage, and the cyber risks that a business encounters are constantly changing. A successful online attack could cause significant financial, operational and reputational harm to companies, as well as potentially threatening the stability of the financial system and nations’ critical infrastructure.
