Cypex is a leading manufacturer of recombinant drug-metabolising enzymes (both Phase I and Phase II). The technology behind Cypex's core products was developed during a five-year research programme at the University of Dundee, funded by the UK Research Council (BBSRC) and a consortium of pharmaceutical companies.
Cypex's products are used within pharma/biotech companies, contract research organisations, and academic groups to characterise CYP phenotype and metabolic route, and to investigate drug interaction liabilities of new chemical entities. The company also offers innovative contract services for these applications from its headquarters in the Medipark in Dundee.
Cypex has a wide range of human, rodent, dog, pig and monkey enzymes, as well as allelic variants. The company has also fulfilled contracts to make enzymes that are not available from other commercial sources. The product portfolio also includes CYP substrates, inhibitors, and antibodies.
