CYSHCNet is a national research network whose purpose is to advance health systems research in the area of children & youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN), their families and providers. The focus of CYSHCNet’s research is creating greater access to health, wellness, and health care for this population of children and families. Making findings available and accessible to stakeholders from different backgrounds, education levels, socio-economic status, and positions that influence health care is a key to improving the functioning of health systems.
The four tenets of CHYSCHNet are: 1) create a national research agenda, 2) increase CYSHCN research workforce through a mentored Emerging Investigator program, 3) families are partners in all network research, 4) network partners develop projects to produce impactful research that increases access of CYSHCN and their families to appropriate health services.
We are the only national center for CYSHCN research in the U.S. We are funded by a cooperative agreement with the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) and the Maternal & Child Health Bureau (MCHB) and housed at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. Our partnerships with major research institutions and family-led organizations across the U.S. ensure that CYSHCN, families, and providers receive the latest information available for advancing the health and wellbeing of children and youth, peace of mind of families, and cutting edge findings for providers.
