CytoAstra has developed the Cytophone, which uses a non-invasive technology called In Vivo Photoacoustic Flow Cytometry. The Cytophone technology uses a transcutaneous laser that detects abnormal or infected cells in the veins of a patient’s hands at a depth of a few millimeters. The laser, pain free to the patient, detects highly-localized light-absorbing contrast agents identifying the diseased or infected cells.
