Codigo C13 was born in the Comuna 13 of Medellin in the year 2022 inspired by the phrase of Freddy Vega (Founder of Platzi) "Crime does not pay as much as code"; as an idea of social transformation through education in technological skills, mainly in coding, teaching various programming languages for BE and FE, with which young people between 16 and 30 years of age, acquire skills that allow them to think of new and better job opportunities, giving them the possibility of obtaining better income and the possibility of dreaming of a better future.
As a sustainable model, Codigo C13 has two phases, "Codigo C13 Academy" and "Codigo C13 Factory". In "Academy" we launch calls to receive new students, these are open to the general public, but are promoted mostly in sectors where the possibilities of access to education are scarce and therefore the population lacks a wide range of opportunities to dream of a promising future. Our courses, lasting between 6 and 12 months, are clearly focused on the development of skills to offer the opportunity of employment in jobs in the world of IT and digital product development.
Today we have a first cohort of 25 young people with skills in BE and FE, our vision in the short and medium term is to diversify our academic proposal to other roles such as Testing, DevOps, BI, Scrum Master, UX Designer, among others.
On the other hand, there is "Factory", our first job incubator for our graduates. There our clients, companies that have as a project the development of products, applications or digital tools and that are also linked to the purpose of social transformation, come to agree on a win-win-win-win-win development contract, that is, our clients win, our students win, our professors win, society wins and Código C13 wins, seeking to make the cycle self-sustainable in the medium term.
