As the owner I meet with clients, work with architects on plans, estimate jobs, pull permits, get estimates from and working with subcontractors, schedule projects, get material lists, complete the work, bill and invoice, diagnose and troubleshoot issues, hire and fire employees, - all to meet and exceed client’s expectations. I held contracts with multi-unit apartment buildings as their maintenance man. I also worked with realtors advising both buyers and sellers on work needing to be done on homes. 80% of my business was residential, 20% was commercial (mostly restaurants). 90% of my work was interior, 10% exterior.
Hands on Experience - Framing - all framing, reading blueprints, framing walls. Electrical - all residential wiring from service head replacement to updating a panel to rewiring homes. Plumbing - all residential plumbing from replumbing homes supply and discharge to replacing vanities, toilets, etc. Doors & Windows - measuring, ordering and replacing doors and windows. HVAC - some HVAC experience, installing and switching out units, running duct work, servicing units, etc. Drywall - hanging and finishing. Flooring - some tile, laminate, hardwood, etc. Trim - finish trim and carpentry. Most exterior work has been subbed out though I have roofed and sided homes.
Since moving to Durham in February 2016, I have finished a basement and remodeled a restaurant.
