About DAC4EU - Digital Automatic Coupling for Europe
Welcome to the DAC4EU Linkedin channel. DAC4EU is a consortium commissioned and financed by the German Federal Ministry for Digital an Transport (BMDV) to carry out a project that aims at demonstrating, testing and obtaining regulatory approval for digital automatic coupling (DAC) in rail freight transport. The consortium consists of Deutsche Bahn AG, its subsidiary DB Cargo, the Swiss and Austrian rail freight companies SBB Cargo and Rail Cargo Austria, along with wagon keepers Ermewa, GATX Rail Europe and VTG Rail Europe. The Project began in July 2020. The goal is to gain detailed technical data about the tested couplers. The data plays an important part in the decision-making process of the European DAC Delivery Programme (EDDP) regarding the selection of a particular coupling design for an introduction throughout Europe. DAC will open the door to a system of rail freight transport that is fully automated and digitalized. A coordinated approach within Europe will be key to achieving full-scale implementation of the technology. You're welcome to visit our website www.dac4.eu and find out more about the project.
