The initial goal of the Dalton Innovation Accelerator was to establish PitchDIA in 2017, an annual startup competition that would equip winners both with cash and in-kind prizes of resources from logo design to legal work. Since that first pitch competition, DIA has flourished to lend itself to the local spirit of innovation. DIA provides space for fledgling companies to get off the ground with help from mentors, investors, and resources that they might not have had access to in pre-DIA Dalton. The co-working area allows for fluid idea sharing between entrepreneurs, as well as fostering a sense of community among businesses large and small. Combining the purposes of an incubator and an accelerator, DIA is equipped with resources for businesses in every stage of development. From initial wayfinding meetings to help with funding and investment, co-working at DIA steers small businesses in the direction of success.
