Some families have taken advantage of reservation for 3-4 generations while many people who qualify for reservation are unable to benefit from it due to illiteracy or lack of awareness. Those who do not qualify for reservation sometimes use violent means to demand inclusion of theit communities. This has led to anger, frustration and deepening of divisions within society. The tenure of reservation has been extended multiple times, new communities have been added as beneficiaries without conducting a single survey regarding the policy's efficacy among existing beneficiaries. This unfortunate situation has motivated us to conduct a survey to know what percentage of citizens have benefited from reservation, whether the social and economic status of citizens from reserved categories had reached the level of citizens from the general category, their reservation policy preference and opinion about various aspects of reservation.
