Danish Modern Museum is a concept about the golden age of danish furniture from the 1930s to the 1970s.
It tells a story about international design tradition and its development. A chair made by Ib Kofod-Larsen, Poul Kjaerholm or Finn Juhl represents more than just a chair. Their furniture is a story about Danish cabinetmakers, craftsmenship, traditions, society as well as an illustration of the new industriel metods introduced during the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s.
Danish modern furniture illustrate how lack of materials forced cabinetmakers and designers to think outside the box. Several of them saw and utilized the quality of nordic materials and combined it with good craftmanship why they pushed danish design beyond the borders of the country. They became first movers.
