Darjeeling Walks

Darjeeling Walks is created and established with a challenging hope of making a self sustainable and improved life in the hills through local employment, rejuvenation of indigenously grown art practices, cultural & historical places, re-development and maintenance of heritage and tourist attractions, taking utmost care of the great resources of natural surroundings and its inhabitants. We, in this journey, want to rediscover the gateway to the once known Queen of the Hills and its warm, welcoming residents using tourism as a tool. The Darjeeling hills suffer from various issues including political turmoil, unemployment, lack of adequate infrastructure, lack of proper administration, et al. With great wisdom, we aim to integrate local residents with tourists using alternative travel initiatives and minimise day-to-day constraints for the hills and its residents. We are an alternative travel organisation specialising in, and dedicatedly offering walking tours trying to preserve the erstwhile status of Darjeeling as a natural Sanatorium. Based on a hill station that is dotted with several national parks and wildlife sanctuaries that are full of natural resources, we strive to reduce the amount of pollution by avoiding cars as much as we can during our tours and operations. To protect the national parks and keep it pollution-free, we have introduced slow travel and easy strolls through hidden Himalayan hamlets over multi-days itineraries. We also make it a point to collect non-biodegradable trash during our strolls and transform them to reusable materials for locals. We are the first and the only travel organisation in Darjeeling whose focus lies in the rejuvenation of community heritage of the town and the district.
