Dart Centre Europe is the regional hub for the Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma, a project of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. It is dedicated to informed, innovative and ethical news reporting on violence, conflict and tragedy.
Delivered by staff in the UK and Berlin alongside global networks of journalists, educators, researchers and clinicians, Dart Centre Europe supports journalists and newsrooms with training and research. We focus on trauma-informed interviewing, reporting with vulnerable contributors and survivors of violence, and approaches that recognise journalists as ‘first responders’ in times of crisis. At all stages, the psychological resilience of journalists is key to our work.
