Das Hunger Projekt

The Hunger Project e.V. (DHP) Germany has been active for 40 years and is part of the global NGO network “The Hunger Project”. As one of 22 country offices, we implement programs in Africa, South Asia and Latin America to sustainably fight hunger and poverty worldwide. We are actively working on 12 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda. In 2021, our global programs reached 12 million people in 11,700 village communities and have sustainably reduced chronic hunger by up to 42% since 2015. Our programs are based on an innovative, holistic approach that works with local people at eye level and empowers them to become actors in their own development. In this way, they take their development into their own hands and actively work with us to end hunger and poverty in the long term. The issue of hunger is about more than just food.The causes of hunger are complex and multifaceted. Hunger is inextricably linked to a range of issues such as poverty, economic and social inequality, conflict, gender equality, climate change, food security, and access to public services such as health and education. To end hunger sustainably, it must be tackled holistically and in the context of the issues mentioned above.This is why our work is so diverse. We base the implementation of our projects on three pillars of sustainability that empower people to achieve sustainable progress: Empowering women, mobilizing communities and working closely with local authorities.
