Formed in the early 1990’s as a subsidiary of Mitsui Japan, Datatag was originally designed to combat motorcycle theft. Now a privately owned independent company Datatag has continued to prove itself to be a major success in preventing motorcycle theft and in recent years has developed a range of forensic security marking systems for other markets including; cars, trailer, scooters, ATVs, personal watercraft, outboard engines, bicycles, commercial equipment and other valuable assets.

The success of the CESAR program has led to other industries looking to mirror that success and working with key stakeholders in the motorcycle and marine sector, Datatag are the official supplier to both and is fitted as standard by many leading brands.
Datatag’s powerful, secure database underpins its success can be accessed by the Police and other selected official bodies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, giving them immediate access to the information they need in the fight against crime.
Full training is given to the UK’s Police Forces, and Datatag have supplied the UK’s law enforcement bodies with specialist scanners that are used to identify suspect property in a fraction of the time taken by more conventional methods.
Datatag's Police Liaison Team support Police across the UK and beyond and also deliver IMI accredited courses in automotive identification, heavy plant and equipment and forensic recovery.
Datatag continue to develop their technologies maintaining their class leading position, recently introducing long range RFID transponders into many of their systems. Outside their core markets, Datatag is also involved with various asset and inventory management projects utilising both their RFID and barcode technologies.
