On a trip to Indonesia, Attorney & Importer Joseph McKearn stumbled upon an English designer, Christopher Guy Harrison, that was producing hand carved mirror frames, furniture & accessories. They formed an unofficial partnership and Joseph McKearn and his sons Scott & Todd quickly established Dauphine Mirror Co. as one of the leading high end mirror wholesalers in the world. Selling to a "who's who" of the high end home furnishings world. To the top mail order catalogs and retailers and providing over a million dollars worth of product to the Bellagio hotel, all in the first two year in business.
As an Attorney, McKearn understood that there needed to be a long term contract and McKearn and Harrison repeatedly met around the world to come to an agreement. After several years of McKearn coming back empty handed, it became clear that Harrison had no intentions of honoring their agreement and that as soon as the multi-million dollar factory was paid for by the McKearn's, that he was going to cut them out and go direct. Sadly this is what happened to the McKearn's and all of the other distributors around the world. The McKearn's focused on growing their lighting business and other home furnishings ventures.
