David Lawson Photography Studios

Driven by a love of photography, Bob left his role in the Police Force to pursue a new career, from here Crown photography was created in 1977. Crown Photography soon became the leading studio for Portraits and Weddings in the Northeast of England. The business soared to new heights with Bob becoming the Chairman of the Master Photography Association (MPA), which was the leading Association for Photographers in the World for aspiring photographers and prestigious awards. In 1984, Bob’s son David joined the team, and the business grew even further as they moved to a new location on Chester Road in Sunderland. The Studio resides at Chester Road ever since 1984 and has only grown from strength to strength. One of the highlights of David’s career was winning Fuji’s ‘UK Photographer of the Year’ for his outstanding work. Furthermore, the team at David Lawson Studios have accumulated over 200 Awards throughout the years. With the new millennium approaching, David made the decision to secure the businesses future by rebranding as David Lawson Studios, which is now a name and brand associated with extremely high standards of professionalism, quality and customer service. As a family run business, our attention to detail and creativity have led us to photograph some of England’s most high-profile figures. These have included, members of the Royal Family, Football and Sports Icons, Prime Ministers and Celebrities. Sometimes with great success can come personal difficulty, it hasn’t been the easiest of journeys to say the least. David’s son Josh joined the business on a short-term basis to help David focus on his partner/josh’s mum who had terminal cancer in 2015. Unexpectedly 2 years later Bob (David’s dad) also passed away. However, we have persevered in the face of adversity and look forward to what the future holds for David Lawson Studios.
