Romy and David are conscientious architects that enjoy meeting design challenges with innovative, poetic and playful solutions. We are equally concerned that the existing housing stock represents around 27% of the UK’s carbon emissions. We have therefore signed up to the RIBA’s 2030 Climate Challenge to help encourage people to make their homes more energy efficient. At the heart of our design ethos is a desire to promote comfortable, energy efficient and affordable buildings through a well considered design process with an emphasis on textures, sustainable materials and good detailed design. To this end we offer space planning consultations, whole building design solutions and retrofit strategy assessments. We begin with a detailed analysis of context and programme to set a base case against which different opportunities can be tested. We can then assess the implications of the various options against your expectations and budget. Finally we suggest strategies to show how your design might meet AECB CarbonLite Retrofit or Passivhaus standards. We have a number of tools at our disposal to help you to: - Refine your brief; - Survey and evaluate existing building fabrics; - Provide design and energy efficiency options; - Provide guideline costs for various energy efficiency scenarios; - Calculate the embodied carbon of different; - Produce drawing packages for presentation, pricing and construction purposes; We like to work with like minded consultants and specialist and use natural and sustainably sourced materials.
