Dayatva - A Social Initiative

Dayatva is a social initiative taken by the Students of IITRAM, with a vision to provide free education to those children who are highly deserving but unfortunately lesser privileged. Team Dayatva, consisting of 40 Student volunteers, has taken up the responsibility of teaching children from the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) schools, on every weekend. Dayatva trains these students in various subjects like the Science, Social Studies, Mathematics, English, and Mental ability for the National Talent Search Examination (NTSE). Dayatva also consists of teachers familiar with the Gujarati Language, who help explain the concepts in Gujarati to the students - to make sure that the students have strong and clear fundamentals. The students are provided with worksheets, frequent doubt clearing sessions are conducted, workbooks containing NTSE type questions have been provided and mock exams are also conducted so that the students can get familiar with the pattern. Around 110 books for NTSE preparation have been distributed by AMC to the students. The persistent efforts of Team Dayatva have shown significant improvement in the results of the AMC students who are regularly attending the classes. Consequently, Dayatva has gained immense appreciation and accolades such as the 'Young Contributors award, 2018'. To promote the cause, Dayatva conducted a rally – ‘A walk to the Future’ on 3rd December, 2017 and 17th February 2019 at Kankaria Lake, Ahmedabad. Recently, 9 of our students have qualified the NTSE stage 1-2018-19 exam. Also, our one of the student, Dipali Rathod, ranked 12th in Ahmedabad in National Means cum Merit Scholarship (NMMS) - 2018 Exam. Team Dayatva would express its heartfelt gratitude towards the AMC and the IITRAM Administration, faculty coordinators and the supporting staff for their persistent help and support. This is just the beginning, many more milestones are yet to be touched, and many more visions are yet to be achieved.
