Don Bosco School, Bandel

Don Bosco School Bandel, founded in January 1978, is an English Medium, Anglo-Indian School for Catholics and Anglo-Indian boys founded and administered by the Salesians of Don Bosco. It is a minority institution belonging to the Catholic Church. Provision is also made for the admission of non-Catholic boys. It is recognized by the Education Department of the Government of West Bengal and affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi. Don Bosco Bandel fulfills the vision of St. John Bosco, Priest and Educator of the 19th century. The Father and Friend of youth, whose sole mission in life was the welfare of the youth, brought about a revolution in the concept of education. The method of education followed in the school is the Preventive System taught and practised by Don Bosco. It is based on Reason, Religion and Loving Kindness. Within a short span of less than fifty years, Don Bosco Bandel has proved its caliber both in curricular and co-curricular activities. Presently the school has 72 teaching staff, 31 non-teaching staff and 2200 students on its rolls. Don Bosco School Bandel endeavours to be recognised locally and regionally as a (a) a model school which is based on the preventive system of education. (b) a place which serves as a foundation for the future leaders of the society (c) an unyielding champion of excellence, service, equity, justice, student engagement, accountability and collaboration. Here the educator and the educated join hands to mould intellectually competent, morally upright, socially committed and spiritually inspired students capable of building a more humane social order. The motto of the school: "Knowledge and Service", showcases the moral and ethical requirement of a student and his quest for knowledge whereby he can develop a broad minded vision of life.
