The DC Public Library is a vibrant center of activity for residents and visitors in the nation’s capital. The library provides environments that invite reading, learning and community discussion, equips people to become lifetime learners, to embrace diversity and build a thriving city. We are proud to be a recognized force in the community for engaging the mind, expanding opportunities and elevating the quality of life. Through 26 locations, the DC Public Library serves as a community focal point, offering books, services and programs, technology and community gathering spaces that promote the joy of reading, discovery and community pride. Our programs are intentionally diverse and designed to support public education. Our libraries conduct educational, recreational and cultural programming with an emphasis on “birth to 24 years.” DC Public Library is going through transformation.
