Deakin’s School of Nursing and Midwifery is one of the largest in Australia and ranked amongst the best in the world.* We achieved a rating of 4 in the Excellence in Research for Australia 2015 evaluations. Research at the school is conducted through our Centre for Quality and Patient Safety Research (DeakinQPS), which is in partnership with several major healthcare providers, including Alfred Health, Barwon Health, Eastern Health, Epworth HealthCare, Monash Health and Western Health.
The Centre for Quality and Patient Safety Research is uniquely positioned within academic and healthcare environments to identify and rapidly respond to emerging complex care and patient safety matters. The centre’s research programs are organised into the following focus areas: patient experience, patient safety and health workforce. These 3 research pillars have been generated by the needs of our health service partners.
Academics within the School of Nursing and Midwifery and clinical experts within our hospital partnerships are available to support your research project. Our school has a strong research culture and a proud history of applying research findings to clinical practice, education programs and healthcare policy. Our honours, master's and PhD students have access to a diverse range of hospitals and healthcare agencies due to our well-established partnership network. We offer a number of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, developed in consultation with our healthcare partners and are one of Australia’s most research-active schools of nursing.
