The Debo Institute is an American Research Center that supports research in and about Ethiopia, both in Ethiopia and the US. Debo was incorporated in Washington, DC as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit research organization in 2019.
The Debo Institute focuses on addressing issues adversely affecting minority groups in Ethiopia, by grounding its efforts in critical and high-quality research evidence. It is committed to establishing a scholarly platform that unites Ethiopian American and Ethiopian researchers worldwide. This initiative aims to deliver cutting-edge, insightful research and improve the pool of resources accessible to the public, enhancing further research. Alongside its mission to do research, the platform is designed to foster professional growth, build a robust network of scholars and facilitate opportunities for learning, collaboration, and mentorship.
