NEMO IMS (NEguentropic MOney Internatioanl Monetary System) is a global economic proposal aiming to reform monetary, banking, and financial institutions to achieve ecological transition, post-growth, and to ensure the conditions for life on Earth. The idea is to transform the extractive global economy into a sustainable and life-respecting model, moving away from extractive economic competition towards a cooperative model without sacrificing social progress and the Human Development Index.
NEMO SMI suggests that central banks coordinate around a new global exchange standard, the "NEMO Exchange Standard," which would free us from the constraints inherent in the current extractive model based on the dollar or key currencies (competition, productivism, external constraint).
It proposes the creation of new global economic institutions to accelerate the ecological transition process. The GAIA Economic Symposium would aim to determine global common interest missions and democratically define revenues labeled as "NEMO Green DTS." These would be convertible into national currencies by central banks for service provider companies.
In this way, the central currency is backed by globally consensus-labeled common good projects. This central currency then serves as a monetary regulation for the issuance of credit money by the banks.
Thus, nations obtain their liquidity by engaging in regenerative activities and protecting commons and are encouraged to use these funds in exchanges for goods and services with minimal harm.
