Decarbon Logistics Solutions “DLS” is passionate about the decarbonisation of logistics. The team has a wealth of experience within final logistics gained across multiple continents i.e., North America; Europe; Asia. The fragmentation of logistics and growth of innovative technology makes this the most exciting time to be involved in the supply chain and DLS offers an ‘agnostic solutions design’ approach. Electrification is one such solution and the most developed, but there are already others that will deserve review.
DLS’ strategic intention targets three main services: the design and development of urban hubs; provision of out of home delivery solutions e.g., PUDOs; supporting commercial customers with their transition to EV. The latter includes an in-depth understanding of the various operating models of the main parcel carriers across Europe and how transition will work differently for each.
Launching an urban hub is not straight forward but DLS wants to take the pain away from logistics operators and let them focus on their core business e.g., delivery. The planning requirements and regulatory expectations can be time consuming and even identifying the most appropriate site is key. There are many opportunities to avail of under-utilised real estate, such as car parks which have capacity, especially at nighttime. These sites are not always workable based on accessibility.
With only 1% of the UK’s total commercial fleet transitioned to EV that presents an opportunity for businesses like DLS to co-ordinate the transition. This is achieved by working with a network of tech partners, Charge Point Operators, and real estate businesses, although taking an agnostic approach throughout. DLS wants to provide a holistic customer centric experience that is not purely partner lead.
