DEFCON Parrot

DEF CON Parrot (DCParrot) originated as an automated initiative, customized to curate and amplify community posts during the DEF CON hacker conference. However, it was part of a broader vision: to organize and highlight important content across industries the founder was passionate about — cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and cryptology. Initially created to navigate the challenges of following vast numbers of accounts, DCParrot utilized custom bots to surface high-value information. As platform restrictions on APIs and automation grew, and as the mission to serve a broader audience became clearer, the project evolved from simple automation into a dedicated human-curated effort. Today, DCParrot operates as an independent, grassroots project committed to preserving, curating, and amplifying the creativity, milestones, and collective voice of the DEF CON community. It highlights talks, group activities, announcements, and cultural moments shared online before, during, and after the conference. While not officially affiliated with DEF CON, the project is deeply inspired by its founding values: decentralization, openness, curiosity, and the spirit of global hacker culture. DCParrot remains community-driven, aiming to provide a historical digital record of the evolving DEF CON experience — contributed to by volunteers, enthusiasts, and longtime supporters from around the world.
