DefTech: The Maryland Defense Technology Commercialization Center

DefTech is funded by the US Economic Development Administration through the MD Department of Commerce to support the growth and development of innovative businesses in Maryland - at no cost to businesses. We connect businesses seeking the opportunity to differentiate or enhance their solutions by licensing intellectual property, working cooperatively with DoD scientists and engineers in the lab, or accessing DoD facilities and equipment. We provide our clients with efficient and effective IP Matchmaking, personalized, one-on-one support to facilitate connection to the labs, specialized education, and exclusive opportunities to network with the resources and experts they need to grow (product development support, access to markets, access to funding, business support, and more). Our clients are in biotech (biomedical assays), health tech, medical (supplies, telemedicine), advanced manufacturing, robotics (welding, surgery, etc.), AI, robotics, data science, cyber security, and more. They seek opportunities to differentiate or enhance their solutions by licensing IP or collaborating with researchers in the lab.
