About Della Ciana Cashmere

Della Ciana was established back in 1978 in the small hamlet of Santa Maria Rossa, Umbria, a short distance from Perugia. It was here that a young Carlo Della Ciana learned the trade secrets in his parents’ handcrafted knitwear factory and later decided to follow his own career path and leave the family enterprise. An inborn entrepreneurial instinct and a particular feeling for the product guided Mr Della Ciana to straightaway create the first collection. Right from the start the quality of the materials and workmanship were of the highest standard and the knitwear was an immediate success. Soon after, a sales network was established in the local area and was very rapidly expanded to cover all of Italy. The next ten years saw the company in continual growth, but never one to rest on the laurels offered by the market, Della Ciana invested in developing manufacturing techniques; his aim was to achieve quality excellence. At the end of the 80s Mr Della Ciana was well-equipped with experience gained in the industry and felt ready to make the big leap into the higher end of the market, into the exclusive cashmere industry. Cashmere became the company’s core business. Today, the company’s market is international with customers all over the world; Della Ciana, with more than 300.000 pieces/year, stands as a benchmark label in Italian high-quality knitwear. This extraordinary success is the result of a formula which combines the traditional nature of cashmere with advanced manufacturing technologies capable of maintaining the idea of handcraft thanks to the uniqueness of the products. A product entirely produced in Italy which, rather than “Made in Italy”, should be labelled “Made in Umbria”, as specified in the guarantee certificate - which also includes the identification number - attached to each garment. The connection with Umbria is important because here, where all the production phases take place, wool manufacturing is deeply rooted and goes back to Etruscan times.
