Municipal Corporation of Information, Broadcasting and Communication

The Municipal Corporation of Information, Broadcasting and Communication of Thessaloniki (DEPTHE) comprises one regional TV network (TV100, broadcast throughout the region of Central Macedonia) and two local radio stations (FM100, FM100.6 volunteer radio). Their aim is to inform extensively on local and regional affairs, to raise awareness on local policies, and to promote cooperation between local institutions (Municipality, local universities, trade unions, the City Port, the International Fair, Thessaloniki Film Festival etc). The municipal media also claim a secondary function in the management of the image of Thessaloniki for the purpose of promoting tourism. Since their creation in 1988, they have taken the lead in informing the public on specific (often EU-funded) policies through live programs, advertisement campaigns and the production of educational documentaries. These actions focus primarily on social and cultural themes as well as environmental issues.
