Augustus Sutherland Accounting and Tax Service is an Accounting firm specialized in the development, organization, and growth of small to mid-size corporations, sole proprietorships, and non-profit businesses and organizations. The company objective is to form an Accounting partnership with its clients. Augustus Sutherland Accounting and Tax Service is founded by me, Derrick Sutherland. I am an avid aviation enthusiast with a Private Pilot Certification and an SEL rating. I am an Accountant who loves aviation. I have been an Accountant for 25 plus years in industries ranging from non-profit to for-profit companies. In the mid-1980's I worked with Ogden Allied, which was the catering service that provided the airlines with food service for all passengers before things changed in the late 90's. I also worked for Steven Spielberg's non-profit Shoah Foundation for six years as a Financial Analyst before it became the USC Shoah Foundation in 2006. Thereafter I helped open and H&R Block corporate office in Valencia CA, in which I was the first manager at that corporate site. Over my professional career, I held Accounting positions for Real Estate management companies using programs such as MRI, Yardi, Skyline, and BJ Murray. In addition, I am a Quickbooks ProAdvisor and my company is listed on their website for assistance with the software. For the past 12 years, I have been preparing tax returns for individuals as well as corporations and non-profit organizations. I have a very extensive Tax and Accounting background as well as business development knowledge. My experience allows me to help my business partners organize and stay clear of IRS audits. My goal is to become an Accounting and tax partner to small to mid-size companies and organizations for the mutual growth of our businesses. My Private Pilot Certification adds more value to my business partners by way of private transportation benefits, perks, and a general knowledge of the industry.
