About Association of South-Asian A cappella

The Association of South-Asian A Cappella (ASA) is a non-profit organization that was founded in April 2016 by a team of alumni of South Asian A Cappella groups. The organization aims to foster the collegiate South Asian A Cappella community and build a nationwide network to unite the members and alumni of groups and strengthen the bonds not only between teams from universities across the nation, but also between the South Asian and Contemporary A Cappella communities. The ASA is the overseeing organization responsible for the creation of the NDA and the All-American Awaaz Championship. The Desi a cappella community is teeming with graduates of public school music education programs. Whether it was choir, orchestra, or band, our K-12 musical experiences taught us lessons that transcend a rehearsal room or stage; teamwork and collaboration, the power of repetition and practice, the importance of learning to listen. Music has played an integral role in shaping our lives and we truly believe that it has been an important part of our personal development.
