Design4

Design4 was started to help companies doing business in Taiwan navigate the new “normal” following the chaos that Covid-19 and the supply chain crisis of 2020-2021 brought on the world. With travel restrictions complicating the product development and sustaining activities associated with supply chains in Taiwan, we saw the opportunity to provide a capable and trustworthy regional resource to alleviate these difficulties. The name Design4 comes from the term Design for Excellence, Design for X or DfX. While excellence is obvious, X represents any variable in the business that is being designed or evaluated. Design4 primarily focuses on some of the more common areas, Design for Manufacturability and Design for Quality. Both of these activities are critical to project success and leverage Design4’s advantage of being onsite locally. With experience developing and sustaining products within many of the common industries in Taiwan, we have the expertise to quickly navigate challenges and keep programs on track. Long term program success (or failure) can always be tied back to its foundation. Design4 focuses on helping our customers ensure that the selected suppliers are qualified to meet the program quality, cost and delivery requirements. This means diligence during the supplier selection and qualification processes and the following of guidelines like Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) to ensure that the customer requirements are not only met in the short term, but for the entire product lifecycle. Many companies doing, or planning to do, business in Taiwan struggle with their suppliers ability to meet these requirements. This can lead to interim compromise with lasting ,and expensive, long term impacts on the program integrity. With Design4’s involvement, detrimental compromise can be minimized by proper up front qualification and training activities and through the execution of structured quality planning during the product/process development cycle.
