Design Anarchy Cooperative

We are a worker cooperative of architectural designers. Our mission is to help others create collectively owned spaces for communal action. We take pains to decrease the environmental cost of the built environment, increase human well-being in the built environment, and design spaces that foster democratic, egalitarian association. We organize ourselves around the traditional principles of cooperation. We place special emphasis on experimentation, both in our designs and our administration, and we labor to make the design process enjoyable and empowering for everyone involved. Rochdale Principles of Cooperation: Voluntary and open membership; Democratic member control; Member economic participation; Autonomy and independence; Education, training and information; Cooperation among cooperatives; Concern for community Design Anarchy Cooperative core principles: Experimentation - We labor in a spirit of discovery. Our work will convey the vitality we bring to it. We admit that perfection is unattainable, and we relish the opportunity to explore the many paths toward an objective. Equanimity - We will not dally, but neither will we rush. We will assess problems holistically, act judiciously, and remain unperturbed when the information at hand allows neither. Forthrightness - We will deal honestly and plainly with one another and others, ready to make, implement, and explain our decisions, unafraid to confront our limitations or the limitations of our work.
