Founded in 1987, Despomar is a Portuguese company that focuses on the board sports market, specifically surf and skate. Initially dedicated to distributing the Billabong brand in Portugal, the company now divides its operations into two complementary business areas: distribution and retail. Despomar represents over 30 leading surf and skate brands in distribution, including Billabong, Element, RVCA, Dakine, FCS, Nixon, Cariuma, and VonZipper. In retail, Despomar owns the store chains Ericeira Surf & Skate, Billabong Store, and 58 Surf, totalling 34 physical stores and two online stores to date. The company also boasts a portfolio of private labels, including Ericeira Surf & Skate, SCREW, Mar Surfboards, and more recently, TAKEN, which has a more urban and versatile positioning aligned with the lifestyle trends of the new generation of consumers.
