At DEEDS Mangalore we've been working on improving the lives of the marginalized sections of the society for 40 years now.
Since 2000 we have been focusing on empowerment of women. It started with mobilization and collectivization of women as Mahila Mandals, self-help groups, and federations moving on to education and capacity building. Our work with women Beedi rollers brought us face to face with the plight of women and the prevailing gender discrimination in society.
Our law background also helped us in guiding the needy tell help them understand the law and claiming their rights. We have a network of paralegal resource groups to offer legal assistance on laws pertaining to the day-to-day confrontation, oppression, and injustice faced by women; and we also impart training on development issues to NGOs/People groups, so as to build for bringing out effective change in society.
Capaitating the POSH committee to work effectively to make workplace fre of sexual harassment is the of our expertiese.
