Development Workshop Switzerland

We are a young and dynamic Not for Profit Organisation with offices in Namibia, Zambia and Switzerland. We focus on sustainable urban development and urban poverty reduction, and implement three main programs: 1. HOUSING FOR ALL: An initiative to address the housing crisis in Southern Africa. By planning and developing residential land with property title at the lowest possible cost, we provide access to housing to those that otherwise end up in slums and informal settlements. 2. PLAY FOR ALL: An early childhood development (ECD) program that supports ECD centres in informal settlements, whereby we contribute to the improvement of education when it matters most, at the early age between 0-7 years. 3. COMMUNITY LED TOTAL SANITATION: An urban sanitation project that uses a community approach to improve sanitation in existing informal settlements, facilitating the construction of toilets by informal settlement residents. DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP NAMIBIA (DWN) was founded in December 2016 and today has projects in more than 15 towns, with 25 employees, headquarters in Windhoek and seven field offices. DWN has developed the housing, ECD and Sanitation programs that are now well established in Namibia. DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP ZAMBIA (DWZ) was founded in March 2022 and is currently in a project development phase. Both Housing for All and Play for All will initiate in 2023. DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP SWITZERLAND (DWS) was founded in February 2022, with one employee with an office in Rapperswil-Jona. The aim is to establish a Swiss and European based network for fundraising and collaboration.
